Started
off the day waking up from the greatest sleep ever! We spent the night in a
nice little hotel in Switzerland and the beds were the comfiest we’ve had so
far. Breakfast this morning was also the best we’ve had, we actually got FRUIT!
After breakfast we were off to Lucerne, which is the fifth most liked city by
international tourists. It rained pretty much the entire time we were there but
Lucerne is beautiful. I took a million
pictures because everything we saw was so picturesque. Since it was raining
everyone pulled out our red and white umbrellas decorated with maple leaves which
got us lots of comments such as “Canadian corner”. Next we visited Mount Pilatus, a mountain in
the Swiss Alps. To get up the first half of the mountain four people went in a
little gondola, then for the second half we switched onto a big gondola that
could hold forty people. It took about half an hour to reach the top and we
were all really anxious to get there. So you can imagine that when we hit the
top all we could feel was.... disappointment. There was fog EVERYWHERE and we
couldn’t see anything out off the windows. So we went outside and you could
barely see five feet in front of you but what we could see was snow! Snow was
everywhere and we felt right at home! But this snow, unlike Thompson snow, was
wet and fluffy and perfect for making snowballs! This resulted in a snowball
fight, which the Ontarian kids we’re touring with eventually joined into. Our
snowball fight was now so big it was drawing the attention of the other
tourists around us and before we knew it, it was the Canadians against the
Mexicans in an ultimate snowball battle at the very top of Mount Pilatus. It’s
embarrassing to admit, but we actually lost against the Mexicans... only
because there were so many more of them though! Overall it was a really great
day with the snowball fight being the highlight and lifting everyone’s moods.
We’re now on the bus heading out of Switzerland and towards France. I’m sad to
see Switzerland go but I’m happy to be headed towards a country where I
actually know and understand the language!
