rome

Yesterday was our first full day in Rome, Italy. What a culture shock! We started off with a guided tour of the coliseum; we learned that for five hundred years it was used for battles and entertainment amongst the Romans. Then we walked through the roman forum, which was way cooler than our forum. Then off to Vatican City, where we took a tour of the museum, and Sistine chapel. It was so beautiful. Our guide told us about Michael Angelo and Divinci. We proceeded to St. Peters Basilica, where the roof was coated with 24carrot gold, and I couldn’t help but think about all those starving kids in Africa, like do you know how cheap Kraft dinner is? The Italians need to learn to prioritize. We took about a million group pictures and Mrs. Buchannan couldn’t stop telling us about how excited she was to throw her Canadian dollar in the Trevi Fountain. So that’s what we did! Being there reminded us all of our Lizzie Macguire days. Then a quick supper, and off to bed. We were asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillows.
