Janaye

Yesterday was an amazing day. We woke up early and drove to
Milan, which was definitely the fanciest city we’ve been to in terms of high
end stores. As soon as we got there we got a tour of the castle at the north
end of the city, which was built by the Visconti family in the 14th
century. It was really intimidating, with huge walls and two moats. Even though
the moats weren’t filled, they were still pretty cool. There was also a tunnel
underneath the castle that connected to the duomo (main church) for times of
war. After we toured the castle we walked to the duomo, which was huge, but in
my opinion not as beautiful as the one in Florence. On the way we passed a
shopping center that had once been the crossroads between 4 major cities in
Italy, with each entrance pointing north, south, east or west. At the center
there was a mosaic on the floor of a bull. Apparently it’s good luck to grind
your heel on its..private parts. After we saw the castle we had free time. We
went and stopped by the McDonald’s, then went and got strawberry gelato. I
wanted to get kicked out of Gucci or Louis Vuitton but we didn’t have enough
time. We then got on the bus and drove to Switzerland. The countryside was
beautiful. It’s amazing to me that the people there just get to wake up with
mountains in their backyard. Our hotel had a huge mountain behind it, and a
barn with really cute cows. Our beds had the fluffiest pillows and comforters
I’ve ever seen, and I had the best sleep I’ve had in a long time.
